This is a stunning, hand-carved Mexican folk art Sirena (mermaid) wall hanging sculpture. Meticulously hand-crafted from a single piece of native copal wood by skilled artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico, this piece beautifully blends two beloved Mexican artistic traditions: the mythical allure of the mermaid and the festive, celebratory spirit of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The mermaid features an intricately detailed Calavera (sugar skull) face, painted with bright marigold eye accents and a classic skeletal grin. Her elegantly curved body forms a natural open circle, transitioning into a beautifully texturized purple tail adorned with freehand floral patterns and subtle glitter accents that catch the light wonderfully. Designed to hang flush against a wall, it comes equipped with a secure top ring hanger. This is an exceptional, authentic statement piece for collectors of international folk art, Day of the Dead treasures, or whimsical coastal decor. This piece measures 8" x 10" Condition Note: Excellent pre-owned condition. The painted front is vibrant with no chips. The back shows authentic artisan workshop characteristics, including original pencil guidelines, natural wood grain knots, and minor paint smudges from the hand-crafting process. Structure is sturdy with a firmly attached wire hanger. Unsigned.
