1948 "Raintree County" by Ross Lockridge Jr.

A hardcover copy of Raintree County by Ross Lockridge Jr., published by Houghton Mifflin in Boston with a 1948 title page date. Bound in green cloth with a gilt raintree stamped on the front cover, this sweeping American epic was a major bestseller of its era and later adapted into the 1957 film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift. A substantial, handsome addition to a vintage library shelf. No dust jacket present; please note honest age wear consistent with a book of this era. Splitting at the spine.
