This is a complete, limited-edition set of four framed silhouette prints titled "The Seasons" ("Spring," "Summer-weather," "Autumn," and "Winter") by celebrated author and silhouette artist John Bennett (1865–1956).Impeccable Provenance Included:Attached to the reverse of one of the frames is a precious handwritten note of authentication by John Bennett Jr., the artist's grandson and director of The Skylark Press. The note reveals excellent historical data:“The original edition of THE SEASONS was published in 1913 and was limited to 100 copies. This second edition was limited to 2000 copies and was published in October of 1987 by The Skylark Press. [Signed] John Bennett Jr., Director of the Skylark Press and grandson of the artist.” Includes Complete seasonal set of 4. Each frame measures 9" x 11". Frames are black with gold trim. One frame is slightly different. The prints are in very good vintage condition. The mats are faded.
