VTG Keystone XR108 Everflash Camera-As Is

Vintage Keystone XR108 Everflash Camera-As Is. With batteries, the camera turns on, and the light turns red. There is an old roll of film in it, but it will not allow me take any photos on it. (WOULD BE FUN TO DEVELOP IT!!) Not sure if the shutter release button is broken or if it won't push because there is no room available on the film. I tried pressing it with no film in it, but it does not make a click sound. The film advance lever pushes easily and sounds normal.
