Vintage Cast Aluminum Dog Fence Topper - Architectural Salvage Borzoi Collie Finial - 1950s

This is a vintage architectural salvage fence gate topper. Cast in solid aluminum during the 1950s/1960s, this decorative piece features a highly detailed, majestic recumbent dog, often identified as a Borzoi (Russian Wolfhound), Collie, or Afghan Hound.Originally manufactured by Hurricane to accent residential chain-link fences, these finials are now widely collected for primitive home decor. This unpainted piece features an authentic, weathered silvertone oxidized patina that looks spectacular displayed on an office desk, nested among potted plants, or used as a lightweight rustic bookend. Good vintage salvage condition with an authentic weathered finish. Please note this piece is missing its original bottom mounting clamp and bolt. There is a clean historic break where a rear mounting flange was once located behind the neck (visible in photos), which does not compromise its ability to sit flat as a free-standing shelf accent.
