Vintage Mid Century Ceramic Bird Planter

  • $

Material: Ceramic

Vintage airbrushed ceramic bird planter, rose pink and cream bird on a teal wave base, unmarked.

A gorgeous mid century ceramic bird planter with a crested head, tucked wings and a long sweeping tail, perched on a swirling teal base. The airbrushed glaze runs from deep rose pink across the head and breast into soft cream and grey through the wings, with a bright yellow beak and a glossy teal foot. The back is open and hollow to hold a small plant, dried stems, or a bit of greenery. Unmarked on the base. The form, the sprayed pastel glaze and the open planter back all sit squarely in the 1940s and 1950s American ceramic planter tradition, the same look collectors know from Royal Copley and the California art potteries of that era. Good vintage condition with strong color. There is a line in the glaze on the underside of the tail as pictured, along with light age spotting and normal wear to the unglazed areas. Please review all photos closely.
